These terms are between you and English Academy, who run English Academy from Japan. Write to us at contact@lingualplanet.com about anything at all.
When you subscribe, the sale itself is made by Paddle, who act as the seller. Their name and details are on your receipt, and they are who collects any tax due where you live.
One account is for one person. Do not share it — a shared account gives you both the same progress record, which makes the whole thing useless to both of you.
Keep your password to yourself. If you think somebody else has it, reset it — that signs out every device at the same time.
You must be at least 16 to make an account here on your own. If you are under 16, a school or a teacher can set one up for you — the school is then the one agreeing on your behalf.
New accounts get everything free for a short period — a day for an individual, a week for a school. After that you subscribe to carry on.
Payments are handled by Paddle, who are the seller for your purchase. Their terms apply to the payment itself, and they collect any tax owed in your country. We never see your card details.
You can cancel whenever you want. You keep access until the end of the period you have paid for, and nothing you have written is deleted.
Prices can change. If they do, you will be told before it affects you, and the new price only applies from your next renewal.
Do not try to break the site, get into other people's accounts, or copy the learning material to publish somewhere else. Do not use it to send anyone abusive or illegal content.
The activities, questions and explanations belong to us. What you write and say belongs to you — see the privacy page.
We will keep the site running and keep your work safe, and we will tell you honestly what your English is doing. Where the platform cannot measure something reliably, it says so rather than inventing a number.
We cannot promise a particular exam score. No honest provider can — your result depends on you.
We can suspend an account that is being used to harm the site or another person. If we ever close your account we will tell you why first.
Tell us first — most things are a misunderstanding and we would rather fix it than argue. These terms are governed by the law of Japan. If you are a consumer somewhere else, this does not take away rights your own country's law gives you.
